Ninety Six is another small town and about 30 miles away from Newberry. Due to heavy advertisement for the Ninety Six National Historic Site I was lured there. The town propably got it's name by English traders who believed that it was 96 miles away from the Cherokee village Keowee (near tpresent-day Clemson). Ninety Six was also the site of the first land battle south of New England fought during the Revolutionary War.
The National Historic Site (established in 1976) is a beautiful place to explore with the whole family. And you can bring your dog, too.
